Un discours prononcé dans un contexte de tensions diplomatiques intenses. Ce jeudi après-midi, Emmanuel Macron a atterri à Alger, où il a été reçu par le président algérien Abdelmajid Tebboune. Alors que la France et l’Algérie tentent de renouer des liens économiques figés, cette visite officielle et “amicale” de trois jours vise à tourner la page de l’éloignement et à “reconstruire” une relation marquée par le poids du passé. Si, de la part de l’Algérie, cette visite signale la volonté « de promouvoir une nouvelle vision fondée sur l’égalité de traitement et l’équilibre des intérêts », elle coïncide également avec le 60e anniversaire de la fin de la guerre et de la déclaration d’indépendance de l’Algérie en 1962 ....

Emmanuel Macron a estimé vendredi 26 août que la recherche de “vérité” et de “reconnaissance” était plus importante que le “repentir” sur les questions de la colonisation et de la guerre d’Algérie qui empoisonnent les relations entre Paris et l’Algérie. “J’entends souvent que, dans la question de la mémoire et dans la question franco-algérienne, on nous demande constamment de choisir entre l’orgueil et le repentir.
