During Becky’s blockbuster battle with Coleen Rooney, Miss Watt withdrew her witness statement at the 11th hour and blocked approaches from lawyers, claiming her mental health had deteriorated The former flight attendant has been ridiculed after it was revealed her phone fell into the sea just days after a judge ordered her to hand it over. Miss Watt, who is accused in the High Court of deliberately destroying evidence, has now been offered £300,000 to speak in an explosive one-off TV documentary. Negotiations with Discovery, Netflix and Apple are said to be “ongoing”. A source said: “Caroline has been at the heart of this case. “Anything he says would be explosive and potentially very damaging to both Becky and Colin. “Caroline’s mental health has been hit hard by the stress of the court case. “He never gained fame and was behind the scenes for some reason. “Being at the center of the case, the subject of mockery and criticism, was extremely difficult. “He knows what really happened and thinks about the different approaches. “This could give her a chance to break the record once and for all.” The source said Miss Watt remains “fragile” after last month’s harsh judgment handed Coleen victory. Her friends and family have advised her not to give an interview for now. Another source added: “Becky thinks Caroline has a lot of respect for her and would never want to hurt her.” However, producers are determined to secure her involvement after Coleen, 36, signed a multi-million pound deal with Disney+ which will see her husband, her football manager Wayne. Meanwhile, Becky, 40, wife of Leicester City striker Jamie, is also being targeted by TV companies. Mum-of-four Coleen was famously named Wagatha Christie in 2019 after becoming a detective to find out who was leaking stories about her. The bombshell line “It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account’ ensured her post went viral and left then-pregnant Becky humiliated. Miss Watt agreed to testify on behalf of her furious boyfriend, who denied any wrongdoing and sought “significant” damages for defamation. But she withdrew weeks before the trial began in May, citing her deteriorating mental health. She withdrew her testimony, refused to testify and cut off all contact with lawyers for both sides.

“COMPLETE QUOTATION”

It followed a boat trip off the coast of Scotland days after a judge ordered her to hand over her phone for forensic examination. She claimed she was taking a picture when it fell from her hand into the North Sea. In court Coleen’s barrister David Sherborne accused Miss Watt of deliberately destroying evidence. On the eve of the trial, Becky was forced to admit that it was “likely” her boyfriend and former agent was the source of the leaks. Mr Sherborne said: “Her case has almost gone down to zero, if not completely. “And we have the absence of the central figure – Caroline Watt, the suitor’s close friend, agent, conduit. Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark.” In her 76-page ruling, Ms Justice Steyn ruled that Becky and Miss Watt leaked information about Coleen for at least two years. He said they “deliberately deleted or destroyed evidence” to cover their tracks. The judge continued: “I am forced to conclude that the main reason Ms Watt was so reluctant to testify, and suffered adverse consequences from the pressure to do so, was that she knew that to a large extent the evidence in her statements was untrue.” He added: “I also conclude that Ms Vardy chose not to call Ms Watt because she knew that when cross-examined her evidence would prove untrue and would very likely have undermined the plaintiff’s case . .” Becky’s defamation defeat has been described as a disaster by legal experts after she rejected three offers to settle out of court. However, the mum-of-five maintains she is innocent and insisted she would go back to court in an interview with The Sun this month. He said: “I was accused of something I didn’t do and I felt that very strongly. I still do now. “I would do it again tomorrow if I had to, because I’m innocent. I’m not sorry.”
