The woman, aged 53, was found unresponsive at a house on Redbrook Way in the town at around 7.25am on Saturday, August 27. There were reports of an assault. Officers attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, and the woman was initially taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. However, she later died from her injuries. A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Gwent police have confirmed. He currently remains in police custody.
