The 37-year-old man was shot in the 16600 block of 19th Avenue in Surrey at about 11:00 p.m. Saturday night. The man was taken to hospital with what police described as “serious injuries”, but has since succumbed to those injuries. Surrey RCMP say it appears the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two parties who were known to each other. “Several people were arrested by police following the incident and police are working to determine who may have been involved in the shooting,” Surrey RCMP said in a news release. “Police are canvassing the neighborhood and talking to witnesses to get more information. Surrey RCMP were called to 19th Avenue near 20 Avenue and 168 Street at approximately 11:00 p.m. Saturday for reports of shots fired. The victim was found shortly after police arrived. Police say the investigation is still in its early stages, but initial reports indicate the shooting is an isolated incident. Officers say the parties involved knew each other.
