On Friday, Deadline reported that the show didn’t have a strong enough showing in Netflix’s top 10 ratings worldwide, nor did it cost high enough relative to views on the streaming site, a criterion for renewing any show. Left behind by Stranger Things released at the same time, Resident Evil, starring Charlie’s Angels actress Ella Balinska, debuted at number two on the global trending list with 72.7 million hours watched in its opening weekend . However, the show did not perform well for the second week. For a third week, the show fell, falling out of the top 10 in the rankings. Deadline reported that the latest incarnation of Resident Evil also scored an incredible 55 percent from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an overall 26 percent audience rating. Based on a video game, Resident Evil comes from showrunner Andrew Dabb and is set in the future in 2036, 14 years after a virus causes a global apocalypse, and Balinska’s Jade Wesker struggles to survive in the new world of bloodthirsty creatures.
