The crash happened at McKay Road and County Road 27 in Essa Township.
In a series of tweets about the missing persons investigation, the Barrie Police Service (BPS) said officers located the scene of the fatal crash involving six people at 2 a.m. today.
All of the victims are in their early 20s, Barrie Police Communications Coordinator Janet Mays told CTV News.
2/4 Missing Person Update: Those on board are believed to be the six missing from earlier this afternoon. The Barrie Police Traffic Unit is currently on scene and investigating alongside officers from the Criminal Investigations Division.

“The Barrie Police Service offers its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those involved,” BPS said in a tweet.
Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman also offered his condolences in a tweet posted a few minutes ago.
A shocking and horrific tragedy has occurred, taking the lives of six young people with their whole future ahead of them. As a parent myself this is my worst nightmare. The six families in our town who are devastated this morning need all our compassion and support, Barry.

Barrie Fire Chief Cory Mainprize said it’s “such a sad day for our community.”

County Road 27 is currently completely closed on both sides of McKay.
Barrie Police’s Traffic Unit is on the scene and investigating alongside officers from its Investigative Services division.
