He got into a brief verbal altercation with another person waiting in line. When he left the store, he was jumped by three men, said police, who released a video of the incident Saturday in hopes of finding witnesses who could help identify the assailants. The 33-second video shows the three men and two women hanging around outside the convenience store, apparently waiting for the victim. When he got out, one of the women throws an orange surpy at him. He was then swarmed by the three men who punched and kicked him even after he fell to the ground.

“The victim was thrown a drink, knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked by three men while two women watched from a distance,” said Const. Tanya Visindin of the Vancouver Police Department. “After the attack, men and women left together, leaving the injured victim on the side of the road.” Police are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime. The men are described as being in their 20s. A man was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and black shoes with orange markings. The other two wore white t-shirts, dark shorts and white shoes. Police are also appealing for witnesses or passersby, including a cyclist who stopped to help but stayed behind to speak to police. Anyone who witnessed the attack, has dashcam footage or can identify the men and women in the video is asked to contact Vancouver police at 604-717-9209. [email protected] twitter.com/cherylchan
