The London, Ont., university announced Monday that anyone on campus in the fall must get at least three shots for COVID-19 and wear masks to class. In a statement, Western said it is aware of the planned student protest.

“It has also come to our attention that groups unaffiliated with our campus community want to use this peaceful protest as a platform to air their own grievances,” the statement said. “We are concerned that this event will be used for reasons other than those our students have planned, creating the risk of it becoming disruptive and potentially dangerous.” Trending Stories

Story continues below ad The statement said London police would coordinate with the school to keep the protest peaceful. Western is the only post-secondary university in Canada that mandates boosters for all students and staff on campus.

The University of Toronto and Trent University require those living in residence to take three and two doses, respectively.
