In a tweet, Peel Regional Police said a tractor trailer collided with several other vehicles in the area of Queen Street and The Gore Road in Brampton on Saturday morning around 12:03am. Ten cars were involved in the crash, Peel police said in a news release. The tractor-trailer was traveling westbound along Queen Street when it collided with about 10 vehicles waiting at a red light, police said. Officers said it was not yet clear why the tractor-trailer did not stop in time.

Peel paramedics told Global News they evaluated 15 people at the scene of the crash and transported 13 to hospital with various injuries. Police said two of the injured were men who were taken to a trauma center. One person died and another did not need to go to the hospital, rescuers said. The driver of the trailer was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, police said.
