According to police, a 42-year-old man was attacked by three men on the sidewalk outside a convenience store shortly after midnight that day. Police say after the victim attended Pride celebrations downtown, he went to the store to get a slushie and got into a verbal altercation. He allegedly got into an argument with another person waiting in line at the convenience store and was then assaulted after walking out. In CCTV footage of the incident shared by police, the attack begins after one of the two women with the group throws a drink at the man. He then jumped and was knocked to the ground by the three men. Attack outside Vancouver grocery store caught on surveillance video
Vancouver police say three men in their 20s jumped a 42-year-old who came in to buy a slushie. The two women remain on the side of the attack. They then left with the three male attackers. “We believe this incident may be hate-motivated and are asking anyone who recognizes the individuals in this video to contact our investigators,” said Const. Tania Visintin in a statement. “The video shows several people passing by, including people in cars and a cyclist who stopped to help but did not remain at the scene when police arrived.” Police say the three attackers were men in their 20s. One of them was wearing a black t-shirt and pants, with black shoes that had orange soles. The other two men were wearing white T-shirts and dark colored shorts, with white shoes.
