Xander Schauffele is the man who has been the biggest thorn in Scheffler’s side. The Olympic gold medalist finished in spectacular fashion on Friday with a 63. A three-time winner this season, Schauffele moved into second place on the leaderboard thanks to an 11-under 36-hole total, the best of any competitor in the field. Schauffele has finished no worse than T7 in his previous five Tour Championship appearances and is looking to add another quality result to his resume at East Lake. While the two Americans have a significant advantage over the rest of the field, if they are to slip up, both Jon Rahm and Patrick Cantlay are able to capitalize on their misfortunes.
