Police said 10 cars and a trailer were involved in the crash just after midnight on Saturday morning near the junction of Queen Street and The Gore Road. Const. Peel Regional Police spokeswoman Sarah Patten said the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on Queen Street when it collided with the cars, which were stopped at a red light. “Many of the vehicles were crumpled and many people were trapped inside,” Patten said. Paramedics said one woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while 13 people were taken to local hospitals and two men to trauma centers in Toronto. The woman was a passenger. The driver is expected to face a number of charges including dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm, Patten said. He said the driver was at the police station and did not believe he needed to be taken to hospital as a result of the collision.
