Another bus carrying about 50 illegal immigrants arrived in New York on Saturday from Texas, and another bus is expected later in the morning. The immigrants brought to New York were mostly young men, as well as several women. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has sent more than 1,500 migrants to the Big Apple in an effort to draw attention to the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border. (Fox News Channel) “Texas is filling the void left by Biden’s absence at our border,” Abbott wrote on social media after Saturday’s buses arrived. “We’ve made more than 19,000 arrests, seized more than 335.5 million lethal doses of fentanyl, and bussed more than 7,400 immigrants to DC and more than 1,500 to New York. While Biden ignores the crisis, Texas is rising.” Supporters see Abbott’s bus program as forcing liberal cities and the government to confront the reality of mass illegal immigration. NPR RAISES VOTERS FOR BUSING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN DC ‘WITH NO PLAN FOR NEXT’ New York and Washington have been designated as “sanctuary cities.” Critics say the buses are a cheap ploy for attention. “It’s weaponizing asylum seekers,” said Manuel Castro, commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. “It is shameful and our moral obligation to condemn the use of human beings for political purposes.” TEXAS GAZETTE ABBOTT VOWS TO KEEP SENDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO NYC, DC DESPITE MAYORS’ ORGANIZATION Castro wasn’t the only official in Mayor Eric Adams’ administration to blast Abbott. City Auditor Brad Lander said Abbott’s action was “inhumane” and “disgusting.” Lander said the city’s resources are stretched thin as they provide shelter, food, legal services and more.
