Officers found the bodies inside the couple’s Princess Street home around 8 a.m. on Aug. 16 after calling 911 to check on their welfare. “Both victims had clear signs of trauma,” MP Mandeep Khatra told CBC Toronto. The deaths, he added, are being treated as suspicious and the incident is being investigated by the homicide unit. A candlelight vigil for the married couple, known as Monica and Tino, is planned for Saturday at 6 pm in Streetsville. A GoFundMe page was set up last week to help the couple’s son and daughter. As of Friday, nearly $28,000 had been raised. Halina Zygmund, a neighbor – who knew the couple for seven years – told CBC Toronto on August 16 that the couple had worked at Pearson International Airport for nearly two decades. Sigmund knew of no difficulty between them. “I can’t believe it was them. It’s shocking to me,” he said. “When I came home, they were always happy and smiling.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
