He passed away on July 23 this year, with the funeral taking place on August 11. Luximon is best known for his role as Asif Malik in the BBC drama, a role he played from September 1999 to October 2003, appearing in 146 episodes. Friends said his death had come as a “huge shock” and his family have since set up a tribute page raising money for charity in his name. In a statement they said: “This website is a tribute to Ash, who passed away on July 23, 2022 due to an aneurysm. “Ash’s unexpected passing hit us all hard, but we want to take time to remember his larger-than-life spirit. I miss you…’ At the star’s funeral, his family asked guests to wear bright colors as it was an event to “celebrate Ash’s life”. In a donation tribute on the website, Ashvin’s parents wrote: “Our dear son we love you so much. Have fun with the angels.’ A family friend wrote: “Our deepest condolences for your loss. May the happy memories of Ashvin bring you peace and comfort during this challenging and painful time. I’m thinking of you all.” Another tribute read: ‘Rest in peace dear, you will remain in our hearts. Big kisses, lots of love.’ A close friend added: ‘You and my brother were like joined at the hip, like an adopted brother to me and like a son to our family. I am blessed to have met and known you.’ Ashwin grew up in Enfield, North London, before attending the Bowden Theater School. He attended Chase Community School but left school before taking his GCSEs to pursue an acting career. The Enfield-born TV star has also appeared in commercials for bus safety and British Airways and his other TV appearances include Grange Hill and Hope and Glory. He last appeared in Eastenders in October 2003 after passing his A-Levels and going to university.
