Ezra Miller and Warner Bros. recently met to try to save The Flash amid their public feud. Warner Bros. and DC Films didn’t have an easy road to making a solo film for Miller’s Flash after it was announced in 2014. Director changes and leadership changes at DC continued to change The Flash solo film until Andy Muschietti agreed to helm it. directed in 2019 The film finally began filming in 2020 and included exciting announcements such as the returns of Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as their respective versions of Batman, the introduction of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, and multiverse implications for the DC Extended Universe. They have repeatedly brought unwanted attention to WB and DC thanks to public behavior that has included choking a woman, grooming young women, and more. The ongoing controversy has led studios to begin considering all options with The Flash, including possibly canceling the big-budget blockbuster. This led to Miller publicly apologizing for his actions recently and pledging to get help for his mental health struggles. However, doubts remained about what WB and DC would do with The Flash. According to a new report from THR, Miller recently met with Warner Bros. and DC in an effort to help save The Flash. The meeting was between Miller, their agent Scott Metzger and the co-presidents of Warner Bros. Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy. It took place on Wednesday and reportedly focused on Miller confirming his commitment to The Flash and apologizing for the negative publicity they brought. The report notes that Miller sought the meeting after learning that DeLuca and Abdi were considering canceling The Flash. Miller’s meeting with WB to save The Flash came in the midst of an important week for the DCEU. The meeting took place on the same day WB held funeral screenings for Batgirl after the movie was canceled a few weeks ago. Batgirl and The Flash have been compared repeatedly in recent weeks thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery to cancel the first one, especially as Miller’s controversies continued to create new headaches for the studio. THR’s sources note that they personally didn’t mind the bad titles, but that changed once reports surfaced that The Flash could be canceled because of their behavior. Only time will tell if this is the end of The Flash’s bad publicity and Ezra Miller’s legal troubles and controversies. Now they’ll be looking for help as Muschietti and the studio work to complete the film before next summer. It’s currently unclear how involved Miller will be during The Flash’s press tour, as that could depend on how well they build their image in the coming months. Recent studies support the idea that many people will not see The Flash because of Miller’s involvement.
