Normand, a former teacher, faces two counts of enticing a child under 18, including one count of enticing a child under 16 or whom the defendant believed to be under 16 at the time of the offense. The offenses allegedly occurred on August 9, 2022. Provincial police Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau said both offenses involved a single victim. “Out of respect for all parties involved, we will await the conclusion of the investigation,” Alouettes president Mario Cecchini said in a statement. “As of now, Christophe is suspended until further notice.” Patricia Johnson, spokeswoman for the Quebec public prosecutor’s office, said the 30-year-old Norman man was arrested Thursday by Quebec provincial police. The arrest came after police searched his home on August 19. Normand appeared in court in Granby, Que. on Thursday afternoon and was released on parole. There is no evidence that Normand met the alleged victim after trying to lure her, Bilodeau said, adding that investigators “have confirmed that there would be no other events where the victim and the accused were together other than at school last year.” Normand has been working in the off-season as a teacher since 2015. Two years ago, according to the Montreal Alouettes website, he began teaching social studies at Monseigneur-Euclide-Theberge High School, his alma mater, in Marieville, Que. Bilodeau said the investigation has identified only one victim, but police are asking the public with information about the alleged events, or other possible victims, to come forward. A seven-year CFL veteran, Normand is in his third season with Montreal.

The Montreal Alouettes have been made aware of the allegations regarding Christophe Normand. The organization is taking this issue seriously and is trying to gather as much information as possible. The Alouettes will have no further comment at this time. — Montreal Alouettes (@MTLAlouettes) August 26, 2022 More to come.
