The Kelowna Rail Trail, off Dilworth Drive Police in Kelowna say they have arrested three men in connection with an assault on a teenager last year along the Rail Trail. A 17-year-old man was riding his bike along the Rail Trail just past Dilworth Drive on Nov. 9, just after 3 p.m., when police said he was attacked by two “transient males.” The men stole the teenager’s bike, shoes and mobile phone and left him with a fractured skull and collapsed lung. Kelowna RCMP said Friday their initial investigation was unable to locate the suspects, but months of work by the detachment’s general investigation support team has now located them. Three Kelowna men were arrested Thursday in connection with the alleged attack. An RCMP spokesman said Friday that investigators are still handing over the disclosure package to Crown prosecutors, so charges have not yet been laid. All three suspects have been released by police and will return to court on December 15. “This incident has shocked our community and has been life-changing for the victim and his family. Senseless violence that displaces the public’s feelings of safety is unacceptable and will be dealt with by the full response of our teams. I am extremely proud of our RCMP officers who tirelessly dedicated themselves to this file that led to these arrests,” said Kelowna RCMP Commander Supt. Kara Triance in a statement. Police say the investigation is ongoing, so no further details have been released.
