The announcement sent shockwaves through fans, not only because of what Sony cited as the reasons behind this unusual decision, but also because of the impact it could have on the wider industry – including its Xbox competitor. Well, it looks like — for now at least — Microsoft isn’t considering a similar price hike for the Xbox Series X or Series S. A Microsoft representative told Windows Central that the prices of both consoles will remain as they are today at USD, EUR, and GBP. “We’re constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Xbox Series S MSRP remains at $300 (€300, £250) Xbox Series X is $500 (€500, £450)” , said the representative. As Windows Central points out, of course, that doesn’t mean Microsoft couldn’t end up driving prices down. But for now, at least, the prices will remain the same in the Xbox camp.
