Ferran Soriano excited by Erling Haaland’s return to Dortmund
Man City CEO Ferran Soriano spoke to BT Sport about his side’s Champions League draw, which will see Erling Haaland return to Borussia Dortmund and also face Sevilla and FC Copenhagen. “You can never be completely happy or unhappy with a draw. But we have good teams to play, it will be good to go back to Sevilla – we were there in 2015 – then we were in Copenhagen in 2009. We were in Dortmund recently and it will be a special game for Haaland and Gundogan. “You can count on this fate (Manchester City draw with Dortmund)! Both will enjoy it. It’s a fantastic stadium, the last time we played there it was empty because of Covid, so it will be a great experience for the fans in Dortmund and Manchester. We are very excited. “The Champions League is never our number one priority. The Premier League is always our priority. We work for it every day, it’s our bread and butter. Manchester City have been drawn with Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Copenhagen in their Champions League groups, handing an immediate return to Dortmund for Erling Haaland. Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a spectacular collapse at the hands of Real Madrid in the semi-finals last season and remain in the hunt for an elusive Champions League title in what will be their 12th attempt this season. City have added Haaland in the summer with the striker having a ridiculous scoring record in the Champions League.
