One soldier was treated for a minor injury and returned to duty, while two others are being evaluated for “minor injuries” after rocket attacks on Conoco and Green Village in northeastern Syria, according to a statement from the US Central Command.
US forces quickly responded to the attacks, which began at 7:20 p.m. local time, destroying three vehicles and equipment used to launch some of the missiles by attack helicopters, Centcom said.
“Initial estimates indicate that two or three suspected Iranian-backed militants who carried out one of the attacks were killed during the US response,” the statement said.
Centcom chief General Michael “Erik” Kurilla said the forces are “closely monitoring the situation” and “have full confidence in our ability to protect our troops and Coalition partners from attack.”

The person who returned to duty was injured at Conoco, but the statement did not say where the other two service members were located. The release also did not say whether any of the locations had damage to structures or equipment.
No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, but a day earlier, US forces launched airstrikes on infrastructure in Syria that Washington claimed was being used by Iran-backed groups.
The strikes targeted “infrastructure facilities” in the eastern Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor used by groups linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Centcom’s top spokesman, Col. Joe Buccino.
